The Medication Generation Grows Up

Patient Safety Blog, which exposes stories of medical errors, has published an excerpt from Dosed dealing with some of the pernicious side effects of atypical antipsychotics. In this particular section, Paul, one of the book’s main subjects, develops high blood sugar and then diabetes as a result of taking Seroquel. These, along with rapid weigh gain, which Paul also experienced, have since been shown to be common side effects of this class of drugs and may be especially likely to occur in children and teens. You can read the story here.
